Queensland Court of Appeal allows case against massage therapist to proceed.
A massage therapist who allegedly gave inappropriate counseling advice, including telling one man to leave his partner, and allegedly sexually assaulting others, is being sued by seven Queensland clients. Peter Koutsoukis, a partner in our Brisbane office, recently won a Court of Appeal case to allow the case to proceed. The clients are seeking damages.

Landmark Supreme Court trial for Child Suing Federal Government and Detention Centre operators.
The trial on behalf of a child refugee, Shayan Badraie, against the Federal Government and detention center operators is underway in the NSW Supreme Court.
This is the first such case to go to trial.
The case is against the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs and Australasian Correctional Services Pty Ltd and Australasian Correctional Management Pty Ltd.
Shayan Badraie and his family entered Australia from Iran in March 2000 seeking refugee status. They were placed in Woomera and Villawood detention centers. The case seeks to hold the Government and the detention center operators accountable for the harm caused to Shayan by his detention and the traumatic events he witnessed in the centers.
